Activated 2.8.63 in Leninsk, Kzyl-Orda Oblast, from the
311th Missile Regiment, under the
4th Test
Department, Baikonur Test Center (5th NIIP).
The units main tasks were missile/complex tests and training with the
UR-100 launcher.
Initial testing took place at Site 130-132, and later an entire
launch group with 10 silos were constructed, which went on alert duty 1966/67 to
1970 (Site 170-179) - also used for training launches from the various
operational missile regiments.
Site 180-182 were constructed for testing the various latter
models of the UR-100.
From 1964 under the 5th Test Department,
but returned to the
4th Test Department in 1965.
From 30.6.71 under the 8th Test Department.
Disbanded 2008.
