Activated 6.60 in Kozelsk, Kaluga Oblast, under the 198th Missile Brigade, and from 5.61 the 28th Guards Missile Division.

Never operational with the R-16 missile, and controlled no BSP site.

1.8.61 transferred to the Baikonur test centre, and renamed 43rd independent Engineering & Test Unit.
