Activated 8.59 in Minoity, Grodno Oblast, as the 170th Engineer Regiment, directly under the 50th Air Army.

1.7.60 renamed 170th Missile Regiment, now attached to the 32nd Missile Division.

5.10.62 transferred to the 49th Guards Missile Division.

Organisation:

The battalions stood down 1.2.80.

The regiment went on alert duty 27.3.81 with 9 RSD-10 Pioner-UTTKh (15P653) (SS-20) missiles, but exhanged missiles with the 835th Missile Regiment on 20.8.81, while remaining on alert duty, now with 9 RSD-10 Pioner (15P645K) (SS-20) missiles.

The regiment stood down 1989, and began conversion to the RT-2PM (15P158) (SS-25) missile - alert duty from 1990 with 9 missiles.

The regiment stood down 1993, and the missiles were transferred to Russia.

Disbanded 1993.
