Activated 20.1.82 in Borovukha-1 (Novopolotsk), Vitebsk Oblast, from the 237th independent Helicopter Squadron - formation complete 1.6.82.

Operated four squadrons:

• 1st and 2nd squadron with 38 Mi-24V, 6 Mi-24K and 6 Mi-24R
• 3rd squadron with 22 Mi-8MT
• 4th squadron with a few Mi-26

3.83 to 3.84 - selected crews operated as the 3rd squadron/50th independent Mixed Aviation Regiment in Afghanistan.

One Mi-24 squadron operated from Jalalabad, Afghanistan - 18.5.86 to 20.8.87 - attached to the 335th independent Helicopter Regiment.

Crews from the 3rd and 4th squadrons were detached to Chernobyl, Kiev Oblast, 27.4.86 - to help in the clean-up efforts after the nuclear accident. As a result of this, some of the Mi-26 were later scrapped due to heavy contamination, and the 4th squadron was disbanded in 1990.

1.1.92 taken over by Belorussia - 1.10.93 renamed 276th Combat Helicopter Base - disbanded 5.1.02.
