Formed in February 1943 with only I./FAR.2, which was formed from II./FAR.1. The Stab, II. and III./FAR.2 were not formed until May 1944, when the 2. Fallschirm-Jäger-Division was resting in Germany. I./FAR.2 was destroyed in Brest 19.9.44.

The remainder of the regiment escaped, and joined the the newly formed 2. Fallschirm-Jäger-Division in December 1944. The Regiment was reorganised on 8.2.45: new Stab from Stab/FAR.12, new I./FAR.2 from III./FAR.6 and a new III./FAR.2 from II./FAR.12.
