Activated 1953 in Ivlevo, Moscow Oblast - initially as the 1959th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment for Special Use and from 1955 as the 706th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment for Special Use.

1953 to 1983 equipped with 60 S-25 (SA-1) launchers:

• Launch area: 56 24 26N, 37 00 23E (US designation: Moscow SAM site E34-1)
• Support area: 56 23 43N, 37 02 19E
• Guidance area: 56 22 56N, 37 01 36E

In 1964 a S-125 (SA-3) battalion was added to the regiment - 56 25 28N, 36 58 56E (Moscow SAM site E34-3)

1983 converted to the S-300PT (SA-10), and was reduced to an independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion of the 658th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.
