Activated 3.57 in Cape Ayaya, Crimean Oblast to control Object 100.
In mid-1955 construction of Object 100 began in Cape Ayaya, Crimean Oblast - four fixed twin launchers for the S-2 Strela (SSC-2 Salish) missile.
First tests launch took place on 5.6.57, and the launchers became operational 30.8.57 in two battalions.
In the autumn of 1964 conversion to the P-35B (4K44) Utes (SSC-1 Sepal) missile began - first launch 4.72 - operational 28.4.73.
15.1.92 absorbed the 51st independent Coastal Missile Regiment, and was renamed 521st independent Coastal Missile and Artillery Brigade:
From 1.7.94 the 138th independent Coastal Missile Brigade (Chernomorsk, Crimean Oblast) was attached to the brigade, but was transferred to Utash, Krasnodar Kray in 1995.
In 12.95 taken over by Ukraine - however, the 1267th independent Coastal Missile Battalion remained under Russian control, and was transferred to Utash, Krasnodar Kray in 1996.
