1961 renamed 244th Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment.

15 crews flew to Egypt 10.62, and were stationed there to 2.63, mainly to train Egyptian pilots on the Tu-16. The bombers flew several combat missions with a Soviet/Egyptian mixed crew, primarily to Yemen - and were led by brigade commander Mubarak (the later president of Egypt).

3.65 transferred to Novgorod-Krechevitsy, Novgorod Oblast, and renamed 244th Military-Transport Aviation Regiment.
