Air Defence Force (PVO) training and live weapon firings (against La-17 drones) at the Ashuluk Test Range, Astrakhan Oblast.

1980's with one MiG-23M squadron.

In late 1990 received two more squadrons - one with MiG-25PDS and one with MiG-29.

1991 with MiG-25PDS (1 squadron), MiG-23M (1 squadron) and MiG-29 (1 squadron).

1.1.92 taken over by Turkmenistan.
