schwere Flak-Abteilung 492 (o)

Formed 26.8.39 in Mannheim from parts of I./Flak-Regiment 49, with 1. - 5. Batterien (1. - 3. schwere, 4. - 5. leichte). Until 7.42 known as Res.Flak-Abt. 492.

Reorganised as a schwere Abteilung in mid-1942:

4./Res.492 became 1./856, and was reformed
5./Res.492 became 2./856, and was reformed

6. - 7./s.492 was formed in late 1942 (6. from s.Flak-Bttr.zbV 6229, 7. from s.Flak-Bttr.zbV 6230).

8. - 9./s.492 was formed in late 1944.

Some batteries was manned by RAD.
