Formed 8.39 in Göttingen as the Fliegerforstschutzverband, and would later (1942?) become Erprobungskommando 40.

Operated in the Danube area and later on the Eastern Front as a pest control unit.

In 1944 based at Coburg, and was disbanded 10.44.

Used the following aircraft: Do 13, Do 23, Fi 156, Fw 59 and He 45.
