Activated 8.70 in Magdagachi, Amur Oblast, as the 13th independent Airborne Brigade.

• 620th independent Landing-Assault Battalion (Magdagachi, Amur Oblast) - military unit: 21499
• 621st independent Landing-Assault Battalion (Zavitinsk, Amur Oblast)
• 622nd independent Landing-Assault Battalion (Magdagachi, Amur Oblast)
• 000 independent Artillery Battalion (Magdagachi, Amur Oblast)
• 332nd Aviation Group (Magdagachi, Amur Oblast)

7.71 the brigade was renamed 13th independent Landing-Assault Brigade.

1.9.77 re-organised:

• 332nd Aviation Group was disbanded, and was divided into 394th and 398th independent Helicopter Regiments
• 000 independent Artillery Battalion was disbanded, and was replaced by two independent batteries (artillery and anti-aircraft artillery)

1988 took part in a large landing exercise with landings on Iturup Island.

In early 1988 both helicopter regiments were detached from the brigade.

1.6.90 transferred to the VDV, and renamed 13th indpendent Airborne Brigade.

Disbanded 1996.
