Activated 6.60 at Balta, Odessa Oblast, under the 29th Missile Brigade, and from 5.61 the 46th Missile Division.

Organisation:

The two battalions stood down in 1968, and the regiment was transferred to Pervomaysk, Nikolayev Oblast.

The regiment began conversion to the UR-100 (SS-11) missile in 1969 - alert duty from 25.5.70 with 10 UR-100 (8K85) (SS-11) silos in area BRK-1.

Converted to the UR-100U in 1975, alert duty from 8.75.

Converted to the UR-100NU (SS-19 mod. 3) in 1979.

Converted to the RT-23U (SS-24) in 1989 - alert duty from 29.12.89.

The missiles were removed 1996(?), and the regiment was disbanded 1.7.98.

US designation 1960-1968: Balta MRBM complex (Balta launch sites 1 & 2). Type II (pad) sites.

One alternative fixed field site for the pad launchers, were set up at Kodyma (48 04 15N, 29 18 30E), but appeared to be inactive by 1967.
