Activated 6.60 in Svobodnyy, Amur Oblast, from the 259th Tank Regiment - initially under the 133rd Missile Brigade, from 5.61 the 27th Missile Division.

In 1968 the BSP-21 site was transferred to the 567th Missile Regiment, and the regiment was transferred to Dombarovskiy, Orenburg Oblast, under the 13th Missile Division.
The regiment went on alert duty 25.12.69 with 6 R-36 (8K67) (SS-9) missiles in area BRK-8.
The regiment stood down in 1978, and began conversion to the R-36MUTTKh (SS-18 missile) - alert duty from 14.9.79.
Disbanded 2002.
