Activated 6.60 in Svobodnyy, Amur Oblast, from the 125th Tank Regiment - initially under the 133rd Missile Brigade, from 5.61 the 27th Missile Division.

1963 with 3 battalions at three sites:

• 1st Battalion - BSP-11 with 2 R-16 pads - alert duty from 3.64 (estimate)
• 2nd Battalion - BSP-12 with 2 R-16 pads - alert duty from 3.64 (estimate)
• 3rd Battalion - BSP-13 with 2 R-16 pads - alert duty from 12.63 (estimate)

In March 1964 all battalions were upgraded to regiments:

• 1st Battalion became 797th Missile Regiment with 2 R-16 pads (site BSP-11)
• 2nd Battalion became 794th Missile Regiment with 2 R-16 pads (site BSP-12)
• 3rd Battalion remained as the 563rd Missile Regiment, now with 2 R-16 pads (site BSP-13)

In 1968 the regiment took control over the BSP-11 and BSP-12 sites:

• BSP-11 with 2 R-16 pads
• BSP-12 with 2 R-16 pads
• BSP-13 with 2 R-16 pads

Two battalions (BSP-12 and BSP-13) went off alert duty in 1971.

The regiment stood down in 1976 and was disbanded (1976).
