Activated 1965 in Kattakurgan, Samarkand Oblast, from the 185th Missile Regiment.

Initially under the 24th independent Missile Corps, and from 8.6.70 the 31st Missile Army.

Organisation - taken over from the 185th Missile Regiment:

• 000 independent Missile Battalion with 4 R-12 (SS-4) pads
• 000 independent Missile Battalion with 4 R-12 (SS-4) pads
• 000 independent Missile Battalion with 4 R-12U (SS-4) silos

The three battalions stood down in 1979, and the brigade was disbanded.

US designation 1965-1979: Kurgancha MRBM complex (Kurgancha 1 & 2, and Tym launch sites). Type I (pad) and IV (silo) sites.
