Activated 3.64 (7.64) in Plesetsk, Arkhangelsk Oblast, from the 3rd Battalion of the 593rd Missile Regiment, under the 53rd NIIP (Plesetsk Test Range).

The regiment controlled site BSP-25 with 3 R-16 silos.

From 30.4.64 under the 1st Department, and from early 1968 the 5th Test Department.

The regiment stood down in 1974.

The regiment went on limited alert duty 22.7.76 with 12 Temp-2S (15P642) (SS-16) missiles (sites BSP-24 and 25).

Disbanded in late 1976 and divided into:

• 57th independent Engineering & Test Unit (military unit: 68543) with 6 Temp-2S (15P642) missiles
• 208th independent Engineering & Test Unit (military unit: 49506) with 6 Temp-2S (15P642) missiles
