722nd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment
722-й зенитно-ракетный полк
Military Unit: 86611
Activated 1953 in Kovrigino, Moscow Oblast - initially as the 1967th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment for Special Use and from 1955 as the 722nd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment for Special Use.
1953 to 1985 equipped with 60 S-25 (SA-1) launchers:
In 1966 a S-125 (SA-3) battalion was added to the regiment - 56 29 05N, 37 42 45E (Moscow SAM site E01-3)
1985 converted to the S-300PS (SA-10) with three independent battalions:
All three battalions were co-located with S-300PT battalions of the 658th and 748th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiments.
1994 absorbed the 658th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, probably adding a 4th battalion at the Maloye Rogachevo position 1994 to 1998.
1998 reduced to a mobilisation (cadre) regiment - the personnel was demobilised, and the equipment withdrawn to a central storage base - the regimental HQ (mobilisation) was relocated to Klin, Moscow Oblast.
Apparently still in existence 2014, although there is no evidence of any activity during the past 10 years.
