Activated 1953 in Nesterovo, Moscow Oblast - initially as the 1952nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment for Special Use and from 1955 as the 662nd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment for Special Use.

1953 to 1982 equipped with 60 S-25 (SA-1) launchers:

• Launch area: 55 36 42N, 36 19 16E (US designation: Moscow SAM site E26-1)
• Support area: 55 37 21N, 36 19 05E
• Guidance area: 55 36 59N, 36 21 25E

In 1964 a S-125 (SA-3) battalion was added to the regiment - 55 36 05N, 36 18 17E (Moscow SAM site E26-3).

1982 converted to the S-300PT (SA-10) with three independent battalions:

• 1st independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion (Arkhangelskoye, Moscow Oblast) - 55 27 56N, 36 23 49E
• 2nd independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion and HQ (Nesterovo, Moscow Oblast) - 55 36 42N, 36 19 17E
• 3rd independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion (Tablovo, Moscow Oblast) - 55 44 14N, 36 16 10E

Disbanded 1998.
