Activated 14.3.53 in Shishkin Les, Moscow Oblast - initially as the 1944th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment for Special Use and from 1955 as the 633rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment for Special Use.

1953 to 1988 equipped with 60 S-25 (SA-1) launchers:

• Launch area: 55 23 03N, 37 10 36E (US designation: Moscow SAM site C22-1)
• Support area: 55 23 07N, 37 12 02E
• Guidance area: 55 24 03N, 37 11 45E

1988 converted to the S-300PM (SA-10), and was reduced to an independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion of the 612th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.
