Activated 1.2.53 in Marino, Moscow Oblast - initially as the 1931st Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment for Special Use and from 1955 as the 584th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment for Special Use.

1953 to 1988 equipped with 60 S-25 (SA-1) launchers:

• Launch area: 56 02 43N, 37 00 15E (US designation: Moscow SAM site C31-1)

• Support area: 56 01 24N, 37 00 32E

• Guidance area: 56 01 53N, 37 01 54E

1988 converted to the S-300PT (from 1990: S-300PM) (SA-10) with two independent battalions:

• 1st independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion and HQ (Marino, Moscow Oblast) - 56 03 00N, 37 00 09E
• 2nd independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion (Zhilino, Moscow Oblast) - 56 04 14N, 37 16 36E

19.5.94 reduced to an independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion of the 566th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.

3.8.97 united with the 1244th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, and renamed 584th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.
