Activated 1960 in Priozersk, Dzhambul Oblast, from the 592nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment.

Initially with 6 S-75 (SA-2) battalions.

Organisation:

In 1965/66 an independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Group with 3 launch S-200 (SA-5) battalions were added to the brigade (US designation: SAM site D10-5):

This group was apparently disbanded in 1970, after being used for test duties.

Another S-200 (SA-5) Anti-Aircraft Missile Group was added in 1969/70 (US designation: SAM site B04-5):

A single site S-200 (SA-5) Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion was added after 1973:

In 1988 reduced, and renamed 1022nd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.

1989 with 3 S-75 and 2 S-200V battalions.

1.92 taken over by Kazakhstan.
