Activated 1958 in Vladivostok, Primorskiy Kray, as the 950th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.

Initially with 4 S-75 (SA-2) battalions.

In 1961 six S-125 (SA-3) battalions were activated, and the regiment was renamed 130th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Brigade.

Organisation 1960's:

In 1968 an independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Group with 3 launch S-200 (SA-5) battalions were added to the brigade:

In 1975 an additional S-200 (SA-5) battalions was activated on Rysskiy Island (43 02 23N, 131 53 20E), replacing the S-75 (SA-2) battalion, which moved to Popov Island (42 57 45N, 131 44 54E).

1987 with 4 S-200 (SA-5), 4 S-75 (SA-2) and 6 S-125 (SA-3) battalions.

In late 1987 some battalions began conversion to the S-300PS (SA-10) missile:

1991 with 4 S-200V (SA-5), 4 S-125M (SA-3) and 4 S-300PS (SA-10) battalions.

1994 renamed 1533rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.

1998 renamed took over the honours and awards from the 70th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, and was renamed 1553rd Guards Red Banner Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment
