Activated 1960 in Kirov, Kirov Oblast, as the 355th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, from the 129th Guards Cannon Artillery Brigade and the 355th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment.

15.4.61 united with the 559th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, and renamed 101st Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade.

Initially with 6 S-75 (SA-2) battalions.

Organisation 1960's:

In 1967 an independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Group with 5 launch S-200 (SA-5) battalions were added to the brigade:

In the early 1970's an additional independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Group with 2 launch S-200 (SA-5) battalions were added to the brigade:

In 1978/1979 both S-200 launch groups converted to the S-200V, and the first group was reduced from five to three battalions (2 active with S-200V and 1 mobilisation with S-200A "Angara").

11.4.79 renamed 920th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.

The planned conversion to the S-300PS from 1992 never took place, and the S-75M3 battalions remained on duty to 1995.

1.5.98 transferred to Glagolevo, Moscow Oblast, and was absorbed by the 612th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.
