Activated 1960 in Zaporoshye, Zaporoshye Oblast, as the 16th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, from the 16th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment.

In 7.62 the regimental HQ and two S-75 battalions were transferred to Cuba.

10.62 the 2 S-75 (SA-2) battalions were replaced, while the regimental HQ returned home in 12.62.

1963 with 4 S-75 battalions.

Six S-125 (SA-3) battalions were activated in 1969, while one S-75 (SA-2) battalion was disbanded.

Organisation in the late 1960's:

2.68 awarded the Red Banner for service in Cuba.

In 1969 an independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Group with 2 launch S-200 (SA-5) battalions were added to the regiment:

6.70 renamed 100th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade.

1991 with 2 S-200 (SA-5), 3 S-75 (SA-2) and 4 S-125 (SA-3) battalions.

6.92 taken over by Ukraine.
