Activated 14.1.77 in Moscow, Moscow Oblast, from the 548th Regiment VV MVD SSSR.

Tasked with protecting industrial facilities.

30.11.79 the 6th Battalion was used to activate the 727th independent Battalion in Dmitrovgrad-10, Moscow Oblast (military unit: 3706).

• 727th independent Battalion (Dmitrovgrad-10, Ulyanovsk Oblast - military unit: 3706)

In 11.81 the 67th, 622nd and 656th independent Battalions arrived from the 95th Division VV MVD SSSR.

In 1988 the 727th independent Battalion was transferred to the 65th independent Brigade.

Four additional battalions were activated in 1988.
