11.1.65 renamed 254th Motorised Rifle Division.

In 1968 the 421st independent Sapper Battalion was renamed 421st independent Engineer-Sapper Battalion, while the 446th independent Anti-Tank Artillery Battalion was activated.

In 1972 the 000 independent Chemical Defence Company was renamed 16th independent Chemical Defence Battalion.

In 1980 the 337th independent Motor Transport Battalion was renamed 1120th independent Material Supply Battalion, and the independent Guards Reactive Artillery Battery was absorbed by the Artillery Regiment.

In 12.89 the 96th Motorised Rifle Regiment was replaced by the 5th Guards Motorised Rifle Regiment.

In 1.90 absorbed the 36th Motorised Rifle Division, and the 1092nd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment was replaced by the 1215th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, while the 27th independent Tank Battalion was disbanded.
