Commanders:

Activated 9.7.45 in Tashkent, Tashkent Oblast, from old HQ Central Asian Military District and HQ 1st Shock Army.

Organisation 1960:

From 10.60 the 61st Training Motorised Rifle Division was attached to the district.

24.5.62 the 90th Guards Motorised Rifle Division became a training division.

22.2.68 awarded the Red Banner.

In 4.68 the 33rd Army Corps was transferred to the Far East

From 1968 the 58th and 108th Motorised Rifle Divisions was attached to the district.

24.6.69 part of the district was detached as the Central Asian Military District.

From 4.70 the 5th Guards Motorised Rifle Division was attached to the district.

Organisation 1970:

In 1978 the 114th Motorised Rifle Division (mobilisation) was activated.

In 12.79 the district was partly mobilised, which lead to the creation of the 40th Combined Arms Army and the 34th Mixed Aviation Corps, for service in Afghanistan.

In 12.79 the 108th Motorised Rifle Division and 5th Guards Motorised Rifle Division was transferred to the 40th Combined Arms Army.

In 1.80 the 88th Motorised Rifle Division was activated.

Organisation 1980:

In 4.80 the 4th Guards Motorised Rifle Division arrived in Termez, Surkhandar'inskaya Oblast.

In 5.82 the 36th Army Corps was activated, and took over two divisions from the district (58th and 88th).

In 1987 the 114th Motorised Rifle Division was disbanded.

Organisation 1988:

5.1.89 absorbed the Central Asian Military District and took over it's units.

Disbanded 30.6.92.
