In 1960 both 74th Guards and 136th Guards Fighter-Bomber Aviation Regiments were disbanded, and was replaced by three regiments from the disbanded 311th Fighter-Bomber Aviation Division.

The 968th Fighter Aviation Regiment was attached to the division between 7.88 and 2.89.

In 7.89 the 116th Guards and 497th Bomber Aviation Regiments arrived from Germany, and replaced the 911th Fighter-Bomber Aviation Regiment.

7.89 renamed 1st Guards Bomber Aviation Division.
