Flughafenbetriebskompanien

Overview:

The Flughafenbetriebskompanie´s (FBK) primary duty was repair and service for all the aircraft of a specific unit. The FBK belonged to the various Gruppen of the heavier units, incl. Kampfgeschwader, Sturzkampfgeschwader, Zerstörergeschwader, and various reconnaissance and transport units.

Normally fully motorised, consisted of 150 men, and was divided into 4 platoons (züge) - 3 Betriebszüge and 1 Werkstattzug, and would normally follow the Gruppe around to the various bases.

Initially most Gruppen had 2 FBK's, but this was changed to one each, after 1.43.

2. Flughafenbetriebskompanie KG27

Formed 5.39 in Hannover-Langenhagen, served with I./KG27. On 10.1.43 redesignated 107. Flughafenbetriebskompanie (Qu).

Reformed 10.1.43 in Urasoff from 4.FBK-KG27.

Served with I./KG27 (5.39 - 1.43) and II./KG27 (1.43 - 5.45)


3. Flughafenbetriebskompanie KG27

Formed 10.1.43 in Russia from 7. FBK-KG27.

Served with III./KG27 (1.43 - 5.45)


4. Flughafenbetriebskompanie KG27

Formed 5.39 in Wunstorf, served with II./KG27. On 10.1.43 redesignated 2.FBK-KG27.

Reformed 10.1.43 in Bourges from 10.FBK-KG27. Disbanded 11.44.

Served with II./KG27 (5.39 - 1.43) and IV./KG27 (1.43 - 11.44)
