Flughafenbetriebskompanien
Overview:
The Flughafenbetriebskompanie´s (FBK) primary duty was repair and service for all the aircraft of a specific unit. The FBK belonged to the various Gruppen of the heavier units, incl. Kampfgeschwader, Sturzkampfgeschwader, Zerstörergeschwader, and various reconnaissance and transport units.
Normally fully motorised, consisted of 150 men, and was divided into 4 platoons (züge) - 3 Betriebszüge and 1 Werkstattzug, and would normally follow the Gruppe around to the various bases.
Initially most Gruppen had 2 FBK's, but this was changed to one each, after 1.43.
1. Flughafenbetriebskompanie KG100
Formed 11.39 in Köthen as 1.FBK-KGr.100. In 12.41 became 1.FBK-KG100. In 10.43 redesignated 1.FBK-KG4.
Reformed 10.43 in Lechfeld. Disbanded 5.44.
Served with KGr.100 (11.39 - 12.41) and I./KG100 (12.41 - 5.44)
2. Flughafenbetriebskompanie KG100
Formed 15.12.41 in Seschtschinskaja from 7.FBK-KG26. Disbanded 2.45.
Served with II./KG100 (12.41 - 2.45)
3. Flughafenbetriebskompanie KG100
Formed 29.4.43 in Schwäbisch Hall. Disbanded 9.44.
Served with III./KG100 (4.43 - 9.44)
4. Flughafenbetriebskompanie KG100
Formed 11.41 Lüneburg. Disbanded 9.44.
Served with IV./KG100 (11.41 - 9.44)
